I’m a little under the weather—tired, feeling “off”. Absolutely no energy. Sundays are my days off, reserved for relaxing and reading, church and food and other-than-work things. This week, Sunday rolled over into Monday, and it looks like Tuesday may as well. I’ll try to get some work done—but I’ll have a reward waiting.
The image above shows one of the best books I’ve read lately, and a very unique concept. Cedar Sanderson was inspired to create art for each day of October and Sam Robb, being a fan of Cedar’s, asked to create a flash-fiction story for each. What an inspired pairing! This book is amazing. Each story is different, each artwork is fantastical and beautiful. Knowing how this was created, I looked at each piece of art, wondering what type of story I’d have written. Cedar’s inspiration came from randomized prompts, two words each day, many submitted by fans. Sam’s inspiration was the art which materialized from those prompts. I’d have written completely other stories—probably not as well as Sam’s! And since I cannot draw, I can only take inspiration from Cedar’s work.
This book is wonderful, each story like a little gem. I could only read a few at a time, then my brain buzzed with images and ideas. Try it—you won’t regret it!
