Book One of Two
At 551 pages, this is a BIG book, and the story continues in The Carter Files: Raven.
It is absolutely worth the time. A rousing good story, with interesting characters (and good backstories), ratcheting tension marbled with humor and the feel of real life. The love story is also very natural. The villains are nasty, smart, surprising. The world is well developed.
This one absolutely goes on the WILL READ AGAIN shelf.
And I have to say, I try to be very disciplined about reading, I set goals and turn off that light to get a good night’s sleep—but this one, wow! This one kept me reading “just one more chapter, just a few more pages” and during the day while I was doing other things, it kept coming back to mind, drawing me back to it.
What a delight.
